RV Reservations Information

We had a chat with Rusk KOA management to get a better understanding of how RV reservations are handled. This was in response to some discontent amongst a small amount of Potjie 2010 RV campers.

Note – Much of this information will stay the same for Potjie 2011, with one exception: If you make your RV reservation before 3/1/2011, KOA will allow you to request a specific RV site, and if it is available, KOA will guarantee that you will get that RV site if you pay in full by 4/1/2011. After 3/1/2011, the regular KOA RV reservation rules apply.

Here is how Rusk KOA explained it to us:

  1. KOA policy is to not promise a specific RV site to anybody. (If anyone promised you a specific RV site, Rusk KOA would like to know about that. Please contact them.)
  2. Rusk KOA do their utmost to honor group RV reservation requests IF they reserve at the same time and all have the same size RVs (length and amp requirements).
  3. With an event as big as Texas Potjie, the RV park is filled to capacity and it is a big task to maximize the use of all RV sites, given that differently-sized RVs require differently-sized RV sites. Specifically,
    1. One cannot expect a 35ft/30amp RV to be reserved in a 100 ft/50 amp RV site.
    2. One cannot expect a 100ft/50 amp RV to be put in a 75 ft site, simply because they reserved after you.
    3. One cannot demand that 2 x 35ft/30 amp RVs be put together on one 100 ft/50 amp RV site. (This is also a safety issue because power requirements are exceeded.)
  4. To accommodate this maximizing of available RV sites, the reservations computer will automatically move RVs around as reservations come in.

Rusk KOA sincerely regrets if anyone has been inconvenienced by their efforts to fit as many RVs safely into the campground as possible.

We ask for your understanding of Rusk KOA’s position. They are trying to make this a good event for everybody.
